"KILLa RU"

So i'm starting to get into this trend of spending the last 10-15 min of my lunch hour hurriedly sketching whatever the hell comes to my mind at the moment via this Blue Sharpe pen i found at my computer desk, scanning aand splashing on some color via Illustrator brushes..this one I spent a lil' more time on, playing with color aaand now adding text again..

Again this just started with a 'roo head aaand theen he evolved into a cybernetic assassin marsupial in the middle of the drawing. logical, right?

"Banana w/ Monkey Head or Monkey w/ Banana Body"

Kinda like Lao Tzu's dream of a butterfly...was a man dreaming he was a butterfly or is it the butterfly dreaming he's living the life of a man?

I actually just reaally wanted to draw a monkey head, specifically a chimp..and in the midst of drawing the chimp head i decided to add the banana.

I drew this one in pen as I really dig the way I draw when I don't go back and erase and such...makes me apply different techniques aaand is helping for this new style to emerge.

Determined to get onto my daily posting schedule,i sketched this iiin about 6 min and quickly scanned and threw on some color...i think i like the direction i'm starting to head with this...

self portrait #?

a self-portrait i drew up, scanned and finished up today. recently discovered "watercolor" brushes in illustrator and, along with that and some other filters, came out with this lil' baby.

I'm a 99designs.com winner!

So i've been competing on this "crowd-sourcing" graphic designer site called 99designs.com where bizs go and say "we need a logo" and graphic designers from ALL OVER the WORLD (last contest before this one i came in second to an art student from amsterdam) create a logo fitting that bizs' specifications..aaand the "winner" gets the prize money aand a chance to do even more freelance work with that biz.

I've competed on this site for a good couple months now aaand finally won! whooohoo! that is all, haha.

QUACK'D

So i've been MIA for about a month now and instead of droning on about how busy i am in the busy world that we all live in, i'll just tell you that things are better and my head is a bit more clear..us artists need breaks to sometimes ;).

I def am going to keep playing with this text/image imagery that I'm doing, I like where I'm headed thouuugh I don't think I'm quite there.

Crazy platypus though, you gotta wonder how he got that hook for a hand.
